Connect

  1. Start B-Roll Archives’ local MCP server.
  2. Choose Copy Hermes config.
  3. Merge its entry into mcp_servers in ~/.hermes/config.yaml, preserving the rest of the file. Do not create a second top-level key.
  4. Test the connection with the command below and keep the app open.
mcp_servers:
  broll_archives:
    url: 'http://127.0.0.1:8090/mcp'
hermes mcp test broll_archives

Use /reload-mcp in an existing session or start a new session. The official Hermes MCP guide covers its configuration and testing commands.

Verify retrieval

The installed Hermes connector has discovered the six tools and retrieved visual matches and a JPEG contact sheet from this prototype. Start with metadata retrieval, then prepare the visual index before asking about scenes.

Inspect returned frames before choosing a clip. If the connection fails, check the running local endpoint and YAML indentation. See MCP overview for the source and provider boundaries.
